How to Survive (& Thrive) in a Call Centre is a practical and empowering guide to getting the most out of any call centre experience. It is full of helpful hints and sound advice for both sales and customer service centric roles. This book offers the reader a host of to-dos (and what not to dos) in order to succeed in a call centre environment and I believe it would benefit everyone, from those just starting out in a call centre role (its covers the very basics) to those who are looking to forge a career in the industry (it outlines career paths and offers a manager's perspective on what it takes to get promoted).

I found the writing clear and concise and the advice very practical. There aren't a lot of call centre specific books out there yet How to Survive definitely holds its own in the career guide genre. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of this book and I have recommended it to all my colleagues.

The company line from a call centre true believer

I was expecting a more personal account of how to cope with working in a call centre and maybe some unique insights. This is more of a guide for someone just starting out in workforce, who really knows very little about any sort of job. It sets out the basics of a call centre and would be useful to a new starter. I was disappointed as it didn't really meet my expectations. From the title,I was hoping for some empathy and humor, instead it's really just a manual.

Errata, errata, errata :(

I like their basic premise: practice the specific things you will be tested on. This isn't foolproof, of course, but I'm finding their math questions challenging (in a good way - I'm waaay out of practice) and their vocab sections seemed to have good tips too (I feel a bit more comfortable with vocab right off the bat). Lots of practice questions, good explanations and shortcuts. I like it.
My big issue is that I'm finding mistakes (like WRONG answers to questions) and misprints all through the book. But what's even more frustrating is trying to Google "Princeton Review Cracking the GRE errata" and coming up with NOTHING. I get it, nobody's perfect, but at least admit you made mistakes and make it easy to find the corrections. There is NO excuse for Princeton Review not to have this info easily accessible when it could be on their website within moments of figuring out there's a problem.

Very clear and concise. Preparing to take my exam so I will update on the score I get. I think this manual covered all the topics and useful strategies. One thing: you can't just read this and take the test. You actually need to practice the strategies. I'm generally a great test taker, but I never really had a set strategy which I'm sure is the difference between a decent score and a spectacular one.

Online access doesn't work on 2 computers I have

The online software that comes with the book doesn't work on my new Mac or my old PC. I emailed Princeton IT per the instructions in the book and they never responded. Since I bought the book for the online access to the practice tests it is a waste of money.

After examining American attitudes toward Israel over time and comparing Israeli aid with assistance programs to other nations, including the major Arab states, Organski establishes that support has been determined by U.S. strategic interests in the region, particularly to repulse both Soviet influence and the expansion of radical Arab states. Considering the immerse strategic value to the United States of stability in the Middle East, Organski concludes this illuminating work by declaring that American aid to Israel has been 'cheap at the price'.

A Book for Serious Students of U.S. Foreign Policy

Professor Organski's book is a must-read for any serious student of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East. It is a book that is sure to offend both those Arabists who pursue the myth that the United States supports Israel based on the whims of the "Israel lobby", and those Zionists who believe that the United States supports Israel out of sentimentality. The reality, as Professor Organski underlines, is that the first U.S. President to supply military aid to Israel was Richard Nixon, hardly a man who was indebted to the "Israel lobby" for his political position. The cold truth is that American support for Israel was a calculated experiment, one that forced such East Bloc clients as Egypt's Anwar Sadat to break from the Soviet fold. Under this experiment, a military option was no longer available to the Arab leadership. Under this experiment, the only road to a negotiated settlement began at the doorsteps of Washington. All of this, accomplished for less than the cost of a single U.S. carrier task force. Although published prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union, the lessons of this book remain true. American foreign policy has been, and remains, guided by strategic goals and interests, not by tiny lobby groups nor by sentimental attachments.

An excellent book by a world-renowned scholar and expert.

I am a bit biased, because Prof. Organski was one of my favorite teachers in college. Even so, the truth is Organski was, for more than 30 years, a world renowned political scientist. His work became the text books for political science classes throughout the country. His analysis of the Israel - US relationship is trenchant, easy to read, and persuasive. Plainly, in the context of US-Soviet competition, American aid to Israel was a bargain (never mind also the right and moral thing to do). You will love the scholarship, appreciate the keen analysis, and enjoy the easy, almost jargon-less (for this kind of work) style. For anyone who wants to understand how the U.S.- Israeli relationship came to be, this is a great place to start!

Excellent Explanation of the US-Israel Alliance

AFK Organski sets out to examine the theory that the US supports Israel due to the strength of the Jewish Lobby. Organski finds that theory to be woefully inadequate, and sets forth an alternative explanation that is very convincing. First, he destroys the myth of the Jewish lobby using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Organski cited figures that demonstrate that the Jewish vote is not large enough to effect Presidential elections, and the Jewish lobby not rich enough to contribute to enough Congressmen. Furthermore, the causation he finds is that once Congressmen have decided to support Israel the lobby funds them, not vice versa. The quantitative section is very well documented and persuasive. The qualitative section discusses th reason for US support. Organski finds that it is straight strategic purposes that drive US policy to Israel, much like US policy to every country. It wasnt until 1970 that the US really began to give Israel large amounts of aid, and it was clearly in order to balance against the radical Arab states in the region which were financed by the Soviet Union. The partnership increased after the 1973 War, and Israel served its purpose by defeating Egypt and making them turn to the US for support, a process which culminated in the Camp David Accords. Organski's book was written in 1990, so it focused on the Cold War and the containment of the Soviet Union as the reason for US support for Israel. Organksi has not updated his book to include reasons for support since then, but we can surmise he explain it in state goals of countering terrorism, balancing against US enemies, etc. But the main premise of his book is inescapable: The Jewish lobby does not control US policy. It never has and never will. The myth of the Jewish lobby is used by Israel's opponents to explain why the US supports Israel without blaming America while putting the blame on those nasty manipulative Jews. Serious and casual readers alike should examine this book carefully.

Really Fun Read!!

‘Love Comes Home’ was a really fun read. The stories are sweet, romantic and very easy to read. ‘Love Comes Home’ exists out of five different short stories and it was perfect to read in my lunch break at work, or before going to sleep when it was already really late and I didn’t have a lot of time.

The characters in these different stories are not very complicated to get to know. With a short introduction you feel like you’ve known the characters for a while. They work, they live in a small town and they fall passionately in love. A lovely concept for a book to read in this time-is-money era.
The stories are a kind of predictable, but the writing made it fun to read and I really loved how I just knew these were going to be stories with a happy ending. It’s the perfect read when you need to relax and need some easy romance.

The story I liked the most was ‘Second Chances’. I just loved the main characters Lorelei and Cole. Especially Lorelei’s character was fun to read about. I loved how feisty she was, and how she worked really hard to get to where she was. Especially the whole having a breakfast restaurant was something I really liked reading about. We don’t have those kind of restaurant’s here in the Netherlands, so reading about Lorelei and Andee’s place made my imagination go wild. I would definitely visit that place if I could!!

I definitely recommend this book if you are a romance lover with a very busy life. This book is perfect to read because the stories are just so short, and still very entertaining. I honestly wished this book was longer so I had more of these short stories to read. It was a perfect in-between book!

Love Comes Home is a wonderful romance collection of five short stories that feature the themes of forgiveness, second chance, coming home, finding unexpected love, and rekindling the spark in a marriage.

Author Kristi Rose weaves a delightful lighthearted collection of contemporary romance short stories that easily draws the reader in and leaves them wanting more. I can't even pick a favorite from the five short stories, each of them had a smooth flowing storyline that kept me engaged, and the different themes that simply stir the soul are wonderfully interwoven with sweet romances that tug at the heartstrings. I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I really loved all of the characters in each of the short stories: the men and women were all realistic, friendly, strong, sweet, and downright sexy.

If you are looking for a quick and entertaining collection of contemporary romantic short stories to wile away a lazy afternoon, then look no further, Love Comes Home is the perfect collection!

An Excellent Read For Hospitality Managers

The authors do a great job in emphasizing the keys to organizational behavior in the workplace, especially as it relates to the hospitality industry. For me, the most powerful topics were the focus on the importance of teams in this industry as well as the customer itself. As an industry veteran of over ten years, the key to success in this industry as a manager is to take care of your customers -- both internal and external customers. The authors do an excellent job of outlining the importance of this as well as other areas of organizational behavior. I've read a variety of books on this topic and this one clearly stands above the rest and is a definite "must read" for all hospitality managers!

Organizational Behavior for the Hospitality Industry

Organizational Behavior in the Hospitality Industry is a much needed text for undergraduate and graduate organizational behavior studies with a much needed focus on the hospitality/services industries. Drs. Berger and Brownell have approached this often studied and reviewed topic from a perspective that those of us who teach in hospitality management and tourism programs have been wanting for many years.
In a business where customers (internal and external) are king, Organizational Behavior in the Hospitality Industry is an excellent tool for instruction and discussion. I commend the authors for their fine work.
