I fell in love with the characters

I was hooked when Book One, Owned, left me with a cliff hanger leaving me wanting more. They are all quick reads that keep you interested. Books Two and Three, Exposed and Indecent, both leave you wanting more. I fell in love with the characters, Mason and Jen, and cheered for their relationship to work.

Bridges by Kyell Gold

After exactly three historical/fantasy and three contemporary furry romances, I can say for sure that my favourites are the contemporaries. Kyell Gold is an awesome writer in both genres, but maybe the fact that the contemporary stories are less far from mine perspective, allow me to not get lost in an anthropomorphic universe that is already a fantasy for me.

The main difference between this last one, Bridges, and the previous two, Waterways and Out of Position, is that this is apparently a lighter story, sexier, and more free: there is not the prejudice against homosexuality that was basically the pushing element of the other books, and here the main aspect is the play of perspective. A game that is in full swing in the first three chapters, the same story is seen through the eyes of the three main characters. Same scenes, same dialogues, and same output: the different perspective of who is telling it gives a different meaning to the whole. Chapter 4 and 5 are again told from two different characters, and different from the previous three, but they are subsequent, one after the other in time lapse.

Amir is a sweet and young fennec new in town and with a penchant for foxes; Amir has not trouble to find one night stands, but he is tired of senseless stories and so he thought that hanging around a bookstore is the right place to find a boyfriend. Only that Amir is really shy, and even if he has set his eyes on an handsome red fox, Hayward, he has not the courage to do the first move. The story from Amir's point of view is sweet and tender, and the sex is almost awkward, good but missing of something.

Fin is a swift fox, another friend of Hayward, the red fox. When Hayward introduces him to Amir, the reader has the feeling that Fin is a bit aloof, maybe even jealous of Amir; at first I thought they were in competition for Hayward. The story from Fin's point of view is a bit more detached, maybe with a sad undertone. Only at the end of Fin's chapter the reader understands that also Fin is missing something, and like Amir he would like a long term relationship, something quite and nice.

Hayward, the red fox, at first comes out like a party boy, someone always flying from flower to flower, picking from everyone but never setting with anyone. At first his story is very light, almost naughty. There is yes something of hidden, a deep layer that very few can see. As Kinzi will say, Hayward is the bridge between different characters, he helps people to connect, everyone walks upon him, but no one is really interested in him. No one would notice him missing if not in case he crashes down. And like a bridge between the two sides of the book, Hayward's chapter is in the middle.

Carmila is Hayward's sister; she is forced on a wheelchair and depends a lot from Hayward. Apparently she is the reason why Hayward doesn't want to commit to anyone, but in reality she is Hayward's excuse, who he uses with himself to prove that he can't have a normal relationship. Carmila's character could have been really angst, and instead, instilling in her a bit of selfishness, the author managed to do of her someone ordinary, with ordinary needs.

Last there is Kinzi, a 40 years old coyote; he is the only one who Hayward was not able to match with someone, probably since Kinzi has already found who he wants. He understood that, to win Hayward over, he has not to pressuring him; Hayward needs time to understand things alone. Kinzi is also maybe the one who needs Hayward the less, it's not Hayward that is helping Kinzi, like it's not Kinzi who is helping Hayward... they are both at the same time in life when decisions need to be taken, maybe like Carmila, being a bit selfish.

Each chapter is like a little story alone, but all five together make a very good novel: romantic and sweet, with a right balance between sexy and angst.

Kyell Gold does not dissapoint

If you are curious about this author then I recommend this book to get a "taste" of his writting style. The characters are likable and the storyline is good. Romantic. Just wish it had been longer.
Update: I just got the kindle version it has a bonus story.

Outstanding read

I almost cant put into words the feelings I got from this book, I mean wow! Once I started I couldnt put it down. The only drawback was it wasnt long enough. You cant help but love Hayward and Kinzi,all of them in fact.Im so glad that Kinzi followed his heart and took the first step and they got together.Yeah ok so it did make me tear up ( there I said it)but at the end you sit there and cant help but smile and think thats alright. You can feel Haywards loneliness and pain hes going though and you want to just jump into the book and help him, thank god Kinzi did to help him get over his loss and help him learn to love again. This was a great read and will be reading it again.I loved everyone in it. I just started reading furry stories not long ago and I only wish I started along time ago now knowing that there were stories like this out there and this one really touched my heart.I fully support this book and anyone who it thinking about getting this one, well all I can say is you wont go wrong! Thanks Kyell! and well done.

So when her boyfriend, Jonathan, a reporter for ABC, is sent there for work, she reluctantly follows after a year of separation. A serious bout of pneumonia puts her in an Indian hospital, but as she recovers, she begins to make friends in India and to understand the culture. She finds herself attending lavish Indian weddings and trying to comfort her friend Padma, whose mother commits suicide after Padma marries without her permission. I couldn't put it down

I am an Indian and a Hindu and I would like to affirm that I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

If Hinduism stands for tolerance, I fail to see how other Indians could not read between the lines to see that she is quite attracted towards the Hindu approach to life as being wonderfully suited to every individual's aspiration to find a unique path to his or her own goals rather than the prescriptive approach followed by other faiths.

After getting a grasp of her own questioning, irreverant and open mind - I think she is more a Hindu than she is a Christian. I can totally relate to her.

It is totally true that most North of India is patronizing towards women, it totally true that there is dirt and filth, it is totally true that the weather is oppressive - and if all that is true - would it not be a writer's duty to report it as it actually is? But wait a minute - if in spite of all this, she was totally overwhelmed with the affection showered on her by the people - to the extent that she weeps when she bids adieu to the country, is it not the ultimate tribute to India?

Why is it that we are are conditioned to be admired only for our material possessions, our so called victories or our magnificent monuments? Our most endearing possession is the warmth in our hearts and Sarah responds to that better than she does to anything else.

I found this to an interesting read, especially the descriptions of the various religions/faiths seen through the eyes of a non-believer/atheist. Some of the ways the author describes her encounters with the various belief systems has enlightened me to his they practice their faiths.

This is a well-written account of the time she spent in her adoptive country and her way of integrating into society.

Great Book for Kids!!!

This is a great book for children about their feelings and relationships between siblings. I love the lessons on each page and how the children in the book use their imaginations to work out their difficulties. Its a wonderful book that my children love because they can relate to the characters. Must have for your children's library!

I was very excited to find out about this book & couldn't wait to get it in our home! Our girls loved the book & we've read it numerous times since getting it yesterday. I bought 2 books so that I can share this with my toddler nephew as well. I've over hear the girls referring to the book while playing this morning. It's great to find a book your kids will love and continue to talk about!

Lovely book about the many different uses of our imagination

Lovingly written story about using your imagination for all kinds of things. Caleb, Maia, and Jack are siblings who like to use their imagination when they play. Sometimes a box can become a robot or a fort. Imaginations are a flexible and useful tool. These three siblings learn to use it when they find themselves in a distasteful or uncomfortable situations. Caleb likes to pretend he is a mouse that can disappear when everybody sings "Happy Birthday". Maia changes into a fast running chetah to keep up with the other children and baby Jack likes to think he is a bumble bee so he can fly around the older children. Beautifully illustrated , Wierenga celebrates the art of using one's brain to have fun, feel safe, or be brave. Lovely book.

I like this book because it gives you the basics for playing in the brazilian style of some well known rhythms as samba and bossa nova.The book also includes some other ones.Gives you precise tips to be on style if you want to get it right and also includes a short piece where you put everything together.It is clear and very useful for everyone who wants to play this type of music.Don't expect to get the tricks and licks of bossa and samba but yes to build a good basis

This is an excellent book/cd set. The exercises are interesting, and the complete pieces are exquisite. Besides the instruction part of the CD, it doubles as a great CD for music enjoyment. The book offers a wealth of information. As with any work that is really pleasing, I'm hoping that the authors Mr. Robert Rilley and Mr. Alfredo Cardim would collaborate on a second volume. I decided to buy this book after getting Mr. John Valerio's " Latin Jazz Piano", which is also an excellent book/CD set.
To me, it is an amazing feat to come up with such original pieces and melodies with all the beauty of the Bossa Nova standards that we're accustomed to.
For the jazz enthusiasts, and especially for the Brazilian music aficionados, this is a book/CD set worth serious consideration.Get it! you won't be disappointed.

I was looking for a good introduction to the technical aspects of Brazilian piano. This book, with CD, is very helpful in developing a technique as well as understanding some of the history of several styles. The music used to illustrate is not popular but developed by the authors. Standard Samba and Bossa tunes are absent. Nevertheless, the material presented can help understand several rhythmic complexities. I would recommend for anyone with such interests.

About the Author

Ja‘far al-Sadiq is believed to be the sixth infallible Imam, or spiritual leader, and successor to the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He is the founder of Shia fiqh, known as Ja'fari jurisprudence. He was an astronomer, an alchemist, an Islamic scholar and theologian, a writer,�a philosopher, a physician, and a�physicist. Farhana Mayer studied Arabic and Islamic studies, specialising in Qur’anic hermeneutics, at the University of Oxford, where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In addition to her independent research on interpretations of the Qur’an, she has worked for the Islamic Texts Society, Cambridge, and is currently with the Institute of Ismaili Studies, London, where she is a researcher and editor in the Qur’anic Studies Unit. She is co-volume editor of volume one of the IIS/OUP Anthology of Qur’anic Commentaries series: On the Nature of God (2008).

This book is very in depth and very informative. Its not like any other tafsir I've ever read. Thats probably due to the fact that this material is for the ascetics/sufi. Nevertheless it is a good buy. I'd definitely suggest it as a buy for someone interested in a mystical view/path of Islam. This book would be a good buy for someone who is considered 'knoweledgeable' and actually enjoys studying the din. It is not a good buy for new muslims, children or someone who cannot spend the time to absorb the subjects being taught or feelings being conveyed through the elucidations and commentaries of the writters. I also dont know much about the authors as far as their accredidation/ijaza so if that plays a factor, and it should, you may want to research their names and find out a little bit more about them and their sources of knoweledge.
